Think about it, when is the last time you searched beyond page 1 of Google for your needs?

There is a lot of confusion in the world of internet marketing for those who are not … experts in results oriented internet marketing. Many new to the industry of internet marketing make the mistake of focusing too much time on the aesthetic of the website. This is largely because quality web page designers are skilled at creating visually appealing websites, this is what they should excel at and certainly a good place to start.

A quality web designer does not normally have the skill set or genuine interest to focus on ensuring that your web presence is firmly and irrevocably parked on page 1 of the major search engines, under your relevant keywords (emphases added) With this in mind, I will briefly share some insight.

If your website, blog, or membersite is NOT naturally reflected on Google’s first page for your most relevant keywords, and you have a website engineered to make money, or you are focused on getting as many eyeballs on your web presence as possible, then please pay attention.

Moving your website to the top of Google and other major search engines will transform it into a powerful source of business or networking development.

Whatever the top relevant keywords are for your product, service, or blog that CUSTOMERS or READERS would use to search for you [Please Please don't confuse this with the name of your URL or vanity keywords that you prefer as many do*] enter them into a Google search, and if you don’t see your website organically reflected on PAGE 1, you are not maximizing your online potential. ***Relevant keywords are keywords that the AVERAGE CUSTOMER or RESEARCHER would use to find your product or service WITHOUT knowing your unique URL. A person who searches for “Sexy Pumps” would NOT naturally enter into a search engine “Fantasia’s Funky Footwear”.

Although Fantasia may have a great sexy pump collection and web design, under this example the businesses with websites BEST optimized for the term “Sexy Pumps” would get all the traffic, hence the sales, hence the $$”.

Will FantasiasFunkyFootWear.com be ranked numero uno if someone enters “FantasiasFunkyFootWear”directly into Google’s search engine? you bet she will, but Fantasia will suffer loss of dead presidents since she has only been successful in establishing her website on page one of Google for a search term that NOBODY NATURALLY USES to find Sexy Pumps!”

This is normally a sneaky trick that some web designers use to convince less than savvy clients that they have done their job with regard to proper website optimization! Or the webmaster informs the client…. “well you can pay us for a link exchange service but this will take up to 6 months or so before you see your website rank higher on the search engines”.

This may be a sound approach and even preferred if you have other marketing initiatives deployed for your web presence. But this approach still does not guarantee you a PAGE 1 natural ranking on Google and the other major search engines, the place you really want to be in order to receive constant relevant traffic. It merely promises that you will “rank higher”. Which is really not much of an accomplishment from a newly created website!

Clearly this is illusory and a bit misleading if the goal is to secure page 1 positioning. Again, the key is to have your web presence naturally indexed on page 1 of the major search engines under your relevant or competitive keywords! This is true and meaningful SEO or Search Engine Optimization.

Don’t fall for any SEO expert who demands upfront payment and tells you that page 1 placement will take many months and cost thousands to deliver the result. A results focused SEO expert should be willing to allow you to pay only AFTER your presence is on Page 1 and it should not take more than 6 weeks to deliver your page 1 result, nor should it cost thousands of dollars to get you there!

Keeping your web presence indexed on page 1 of Google once you have secured your positioning should be a part of the engagement, after all what good is it to your business if you emerge on page 1 and within days you disappear! Besides everyone knows how finicky the search engines can be with their positioning methods, not to mention all of the international competition who are fighting daily and around the clock to displace you and have their own websites indexed under your exact same keywords in order to gain theĀ  guaranteed associated targeted traffic.

Finally, your SEO optimization agreement should hold your SEO expert specifically accountable for the work being done and the time frame for completion, otherwise all you have is an agreement for good intentions and best efforts, and this will never get you to numero uno!

To the top!

Well written point. I like your suggestion to hold SEO “experts” accountable. Pay for performance…it needs to be there.
